Overview

Building identification is the largest-scale signage we do. The letters get sized for legibility from the parking lot or the street, not from conversational distance. The mounting accounts for wind load and substrate; the finish accounts for decades of weather.

Our building ID portfolio runs from healthcare (Rock Valley College Health Sciences Center, the dimensional letters mounted high on a multi-story modern facade) to schools (Hononegah, Challand, Conrady, Ardmore) to civic (City of Loves Park Fire Station 1) to office buildings.

What we make

Every variation of building identification we produce.

Mounting configurations

  • Flush-mount dimensional letters directly to brick or panel
  • Stand-off mount with architectural reveal
  • Mounted on a contrasting backer panel
  • Recessed-mount in masonry pocket
  • Halo-lit configurations for low-light visibility

Scale + style

  • Architectural scale (18"+ characters, often 36–60")
  • Multi-line lettering (institution name + tagline)
  • Logo or shield + wordmark composition
  • Multi-language ID (where applicable)
  • Integrated with monument or pylon signage

Our process

How CorPro produces and installs building identification.

  1. 01

    Scale + legibility analysis

We model the letters at scale on a photo of the building from the parking lot and the street, so you can see the actual size needed for legibility before fabrication.

  2. 02

    Engineering + permit

Each letter is engineered for the substrate (brick, pre-cast, panel, EIFS) and the wind load. Permitting through your municipality is coordinated with the engineered drawings.

  3. 03

    Fabrication

Letters are CNC-cut, welded, finished, and packaged. For halo-lit installs, LEDs are wired and tested before shipping.

  4. 04

    Install

Bucket-truck or scissor-lift install with our crew. Patterning, drilling, and anchoring on a typical 6–10 letter install runs 1–2 days.

FAQ

Building Identification — common questions.

Not seeing your question? The fastest way to get an answer is the quote form — we usually respond within a business day.

How big should building ID letters be?
Rule of thumb: 1 inch of letter height per 10 feet of viewing distance for daytime legibility. A sign meant to read from a parking lot 300 feet away wants 30+ inch letters. We model it on a photo of your building before fabricating.
Do you handle the engineering?
Yes. Each install gets a stamped engineered drawing showing anchor pattern, wind-load calculations, and substrate requirements. Required for permitting in most municipalities.
Halo-lit or front-lit for building ID?
For institutional and corporate building ID, halo-lit is the architectural standard — more subtle, more upscale. For retail or high-traffic visibility, front-lit reads better. We mock up both on a photo of your building.

Building Identification, made local.

Building ID is the most architectural work we do. Send us a photo of the building from the parking lot and we'll model letter sizes and styles on it before quoting.
